By This All Will Know That You Are My Disciples

Dear friends, I am back!!! welcome to the café. Please make yourselves comfortable while I pour us our cups of coffee. It’s been a long time away for me, my time away has been a journey of coming to terms with me and the calling on my life; I was overwhelmed with a lot of things and needed to figure out for myself what direction i needed to go. Needless to say, that I still do not have much clarity in that area but the one thing that became crystal clear to me was that I need to listen more to God and hear what he is telling me rather than filling His ears with my plans and asking Him to fall in line and bless everything I have decided to do for Him. My prayer is that I am able to do that and not revert to my old ways of deciding what is best for me and God as well as for everybody around me. Everytime i tried to figure this out, I get just one response – Love

Love is the key to accomplishing all that God has intended for us on earth; love keeps us going when we would have quit; love gives us the strength to take just that one more step that draws us closer to the goal. As Christians , we are motivated by the words of Jesus which commands us to love all mankind unconditionally, but especially so for those of the household of God because this is supposed to be a big revelation to the world that we are truly God’s disciples. WOW!

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:34-35

You might wonder why I am choosing this topic for my comeback article; the truth is that I am not choosing it, God is asking me to write it because we all need a reminder of what is at stake here, we all need to remember what we have been called to. We are not called to save the world, we are called to love the world by sharing the love of Jesus Christ; our unconditional love will create a fertile ground in which the Holy Spirit of God will come in to sow seeds that will grow and bear fruits for the kingdom of God.

I have been following the elections in the United States very closely and I have to say that i find it very interesting to say the least but it is also a very sad commentary of the human agenda. I was very angry and disappointed in President Obama when he declared his support for gay marriage and I know a lot of evangelical Americans are too; however, like everybody else, I have spent time in prayer asking God how a president who claims to serve Him can do this and this is what God has taught me.

Homosexuality is not a threat to God’s work being done on earth, Christians are the biggest hindrance to the work of God. Homosexuality has been in existence since the days of Abraham and we cannot change it, God alone can. One other thing that God taught me is that He loves all His children including homosexuals; God reminded me that Jesus died not just for us ‘good’ christians, but for homosexuals and other sinners too. Who are we to decide that we are so holy that we can condemn any one of His children? Who are we to play God and judge others when we are so in need of His mercy? How can we claim to love God and hate His children?

If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also. 1 John 4:20

I am so saddened to see the route the American elections are going; where white Americans are campaigning to take back America and the White house by voting in who they see as a ‘real’ American. Wow! Do we take from this that just by being black, President Obama should be kicked out of the White house because some how he is not really American? To think that some of this unbelievable words are coming out of the mouths of so-called christians, need to give us pause. Did Jesus die for a church divided by colour? Did Jesus die to bring sinners to God only to have us chase them right out? I wonder how many homosexuals, prostitutes, murderers and thieves will be welcomed to our churches today; I also wonder, if not the church, then where are they supposed to hear the message of God?

For my American friends, as you vote, think about who is truly committed to help the poor, the homeless, the broken hearted, the sick and dying; who is committed to making sure no one goes to bed hungry, no one dies because he could not afford the medical help that could have saved him, no one freezes to death because they have no coat to protect themselves against the cold while their neighbour has several hanging in their closet. Do not vote to stick it to homosexuals and those that support them, do not vote in judgement of people who opt for abortions; while we might not agree with their decisions, we do not understand the degree of desperation and fear of condemnation that leads them to do this. Vote for the love of Jesus Christ which is demonstrated through what many today call a socialist agenda; remember the words of Jesus?

For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.  Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feedYou, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:35-40

Dear friends, This is our mission on earth, demonstrating God’s love to others. It is time to look into the mirror and stop lying to ourselves; a loveless church is a powerless church and as long as we continue to judge and condemn, we will never be able to reach a world that desperately needs Jesus. It is time to take off the masks and get real, our Lord is counting on us and the world is waiting for us to get our act together. Dear American friends, go out and vote to keep moving Forward! with the message of hope for a better future for ALL Americans.

These are solely my views and opinions and it is okay if you do not agree with them, but I will like to hear your opinions, click on the leave a comment button and share your thoughts with us and please forward this to others you know that might need a word from God and encourage them to check it out. See you next week at the café and God’s blessings as you enjoy your coffee.

Kathryn

  1. Hi Kathryn. I don’t think you were at cfgc last night. James Nudd spoke on being a success & said how important it is to listen to God. And now this is really resonating with me, as you say the same thing. I so agree with all you say about the elections in the States, & on what basis people should decide to vote. Well done for your courage in writing this.

    • True, I was not at church yesterday night but I believe God is speaking through everyone of His children and He is saying the same things to us all. We just need to listen.

  2. The message you shared hit home. We need to get back to what really matter to the Lord.
Thank you for the reminder. Blessings Gina
